This paper discusses both the corrosive and hazard characteristics of urea-ammonium nitrate solution encountered during manufacture, storage and transport. It also covers preventative measures to reduce corrosion in storage tanks and carbon steel shipping containers. Coupon design and testing methods for assessing corrosion inhibitors to ensure optimum protection are achieved for storage tanks and carbon steel shipping containers. Preventive measures applied to address hazards associated with the manufacture of UAN solution are described.
